Emma's New Ride (Her Stroller)

Michael had the day off today since it was President’s Day so I left him a list of things to do while I was at work. He also had a lot to do since he is going out of town the rest of the week. Do you think it got done? Well not exactly. Since most of it didn't get done while I was at work, we had to quickly get things together before heading over to my parent’s house. We decided to stay the night there so we would be closer to the airport for when I have to drop Michael off.

While we were at my parent’s house, we decided to open a stroller my mom had bought a while ago. I just wanted to get an idea of what it looked like and how well it maneuvered. It was actually harder to put this stroller together than we thought. At times we had to refer to the owner’s manual; otherwise we may have broken it.

It was all put together and we decided that it was a good deal and a decent stroller. It was so funny watching Michael put the stroller together. It’s all becoming so real and it will really hit him when our little Emma is born!

Last Monthly Doctor's Appointment

I had another doctor’s appointment today, which now starts the every two week appointment. That must mean we are getting closer to meeting our baby! I called to make sure the doctor was on time and they said yes. So as Michael and I rushed to the appointment, we got one of the closer parking spots. This never happens to either of us. Should have known it was too good to be true. We walked into the office right behind someone who was late for her appointment, which meant that we were going to be getting in late. Thankfully, we didn’t have anything major to do right away, but it was still aggravating.

When I got weighted in today, I don’t think I have gained any weight since last appointment. That appointment was a hefty one so I could stand having gained nothing this month. I think most of the weight has all been to the baby anyway, which it should be going to the baby, but I don’t want that much coming to me.

We had a couple questions for the doctor today. Emma’s heart beat had gone down since the last appointment; today it was 120 bpm. The heart beat is normally to go down, which means things are looking good for her. I didn’t get the measurement of my belly, but I imagine everything looked like it was on track. We will be back in two weeks to see how baby Emma and I are progressing.

Plumbing Issues

So last night was terrible. Michael and I spent about two hours trying to de clog the toilets and bathtub upstairs. Michael first tried plunging our toilet, but then it didn’t do anything so he thought about last time this happened and remembered that we needed to pour boiling water down the drains. I don’t know how many pots of boiling water we took upstairs, but it didn’t change anything. If anything, it made it worse for the bathtub. I never had seen poop come out of the bathtub overflow drain spot. That was so disgusting!

We knew we were in too deep so we thought we would have a plumber come out to see what they could do. Michael’s dad ended up coming over for the afternoon/evening to help find the cause of the clog. When they couldn’t get anywhere with the auger from my dad, they went to the local hardware stores in search of a place that rents tools. When they had no luck, it was time to get the yellow pages out to find a plumber in the area.

Thankfully roto rooter was available to come out tonight, but between 6 and 9 PM. And wouldn’t you know it was at the end of their time frame when he called to say he was on the way. After he worked on our toilet for a few minutes and got it de clogged, he moved onto the other bathroom. Unfortunately this one took a little more time and effort to break up the clog. The end result was a wad of black people’s hair that had looked like a small rodent that got stuck in the pipes. It was also very disgusting!

But at least we now have opened pipes and shouldn’t have this issue occur anymore. Well if it does within the next six months, we are covered, but I hope we don’t have any more issues like this. It was so gross smelling all the crap and then hearing about it going all over the bathroom, including the walls. Michael told me about a couple close calls he had where he almost fell into the bathtub (face first) filled with poop. He also had some poop water hit him on the nose. While it was funny to hear about it, I can only imagine how grossed out he really was. At least now I know that he will be able to change a dirty diaper without any problems. See something good always comes out of something bad. Lets hope we are having lots of good from now on!

Three More Months

Just three months and our sweet pea will be here! We still have so much to do; I guess now we should begin to look into some things before its a mad scramble.

Yesterday I called a pediatrician’s office that a co-worker had referred me to and from the sound of it, it could be the one. I reviewed the website the night before and everything looks pretty good, but we still need to see if we feel a connection with the pediatrician. I would like to have a pediatrician decided on sometime within the next two months so we aren’t scrambling to decide when we are in the delivery room. Also, Michael and I need to decide on a day care or what the plan is for Emma during the day.

While at work this afternoon, I was talking to two girls that work in different departments. The one girl asked if I cared if she touched my belly, as she was reaching for it anyways. I didn’t think she would be able to feel Emma move because I tend to feel it the most when I’m laying in bed at night or in the bathtub. Even as I’m writing this now, she is kicking/punching. It’s always on the right side of my belly; I guess it’s the way she must be positioned.

I don’t know if she is moving around enough or if this is something to be concerned about. Maybe we just have a relaxed baby, but I hope that doesn’t mean she will be a little rebel when she is born. Only time will tell what her appearance and personality will be like and I can’t wait to see who she is like, her mom or her dad. I’m hoping she gets a lot of my characteristics, but at the same time, Michael has some good qualities that I wouldn’t mind Emma picking up some of them.

The start of my third trimester; almost there!

Cali's Birthday

Cali has been reminding us all week that her birthday was coming up and well it's finally here! As I was getting ready this morning, I heard Michael singing "Happy Birthday" to Cali. She had a pretty good day planned out for her...laying in bed all morning, roaming through the house while Lexi is in jail, snacking on her rawhide treat, and just taking it easy today.

Don't look at my bed head; the birthday girl first thing this morning.

Were are all of my presents?

Here they are!

Checking out all of her presents (lots of treats).

After singing "Happy Birthday to Cali" the birthday girl enjoyed her ice cream.

Super Bowl Sunday

What a busy day we had today. We were having people over to watch the game because Michael’s brother wanted a place to watch it so our house was it.

I had gotten up early today to start cleaning and preparing the food. Michael got some of the driveway cleared off so people could park there. After we went to church, we headed to the grocery store to pick up a few things we needed, but that quickly turned into grabbing everything in sight because we were starving.

After lunch and relaxing for a bit, we went back to getting things ready and then people started coming over. Laura was the first to arrive and boy was she surprised to see how big my belly has gotten. I showed her Emma’s room and she loved it. We looked at all of her clothes and my favorite outfit of all…her swimsuit!

More and more people began arriving and then it was time to get the party started. Michael and I made homemade egg rolls, onion tartlets, and banana bread. We also had pizza, Mexican dip/chips and fruit. Most of the food was eaten except for the pizza; so now Michael and I will be eating that for the week.

I didn’t really watch much of the game, except for the commercials. Some of them were hilarious, while others were just stupid. I did get to talk to Laura and Ashley about random things; stuff from the baby shower to how I was feeling with the baby. Laura wanted to feel the baby move, but when I felt it, she didn’t so maybe the next time she can get a good kick. It was good to get together with friends and some family.

We will be getting together a lot over the next couple of months with all of the showers and parties coming up. It’s almost three months to the date and you will be here. Each day I think there is more that needs to get done, but somehow there is never enough time in the day to get everything completed. Hopefully, we will be ready though for when our little one arrives.

Good News

Well Michael and I weren’t off yesterday, but that’s okay because we went in a little later. I thought it would have taken us a lot longer to get into work, but the roads weren’t that bad so we made it to work in our normal time.

I was waiting to hear back from the OB-GYN’s office about my blood work and urine sample that I gave on Saturday. I was so nervous about hearing the results of the gestational diabetes. I was concerned that I would have to really monitor my food and drink intake, but then I got the news. I don’t have gestational diabetes! But I do have a urinary track infection, which means I need to get on an antibiotic.

When in the world am I going to have time to take these news pills with all of the other pills (prenatal, iron, and thyroid) I’m taking. Michael and I went to the pharmacy to pick up the prescription; however, they didn’t have anything on record for me. It made me so mad because if I really had a bad UTI I would want to have my antibiotic right away. I’ll have to keep on about these pills because it’s been almost a week since I had blood work done.

Ice/Snow Day!

Another snow day with Michael and the girls! We were to have this HUGE snow and ice storm come in and as it turned out, we got it just not as much as the forecasters predicted. It was still bad enough that Michael and I didn’t feel safe to drive to work in it. Since we see Highway K in our backyard, we knew it was a sign to stay home when there was no one on the roads except for the snow plows.

It was a relaxing day around the house. Michael and I watched a movie and lots of tv. I would have preferred to clean out the basement or go through some of our clothes, but it was still a good day not doing much.

For dinner, Michael and I didn’t want to prepare anything so we decide to adventure out to see what was open. The choices that we wanted we all closed and we almost got stuck on the roads. We decided to head home, but Michael didn’t think we would make it up the hill at the light into our neighborhood so we kept on going in search of food. The only place that was open was White Castles; and we got there right when they were closing for the night. As we were turning onto our street, we got stuck again. Thankfully, Michael knows what to do in those circumstances because I would have just gotten mad and left the car in the road till Michael moved it. There was so much ice and snow in the driveway, I wasn’t sure if we were going to make it into the garage or if we did, what if we went too far and went through the garage.

We will have to wait to see if tomorrow will be another snow day or if it’s back to work. At least this is a shorter week for Michael since he is off on Friday. And I think the girls like having us at home because they are free to roam and play all day. I can’t wait till Emma is here and I can spend more time at home with all of my girls!

The snow/ice coming down pretty good.

As if being outside for hours a day isn't enough, these crazy pups wanted to go back out.

Look at that crazy girl, just sitting in the snow.

These pups just love to play outside in the snow.

Cali patiently waiting to get back inside.
