Happy 3rd Anniversary To Us

This year our anniversary is much different than in the years past.  Michael made breakfast for me, but things quickly changed as I was quickly covered in vomit from Emma.  She had taken a bite of sausage and I guess it wasn't sitting too good with her and it all came back up on me.  After Michael left for work, Mason also blessed me with a lot of spit up.  I have two great kids that didn't know how else to say 'happy anniversary' than to vomit on me.  Gotta love those kids!

While Michael went to work, the kids and I hit the park.  It wasn't too long after we got there that I received a text message from Michael. I just assumed it was from the night before, but then I thought I better see what was going on.  Sure enough, Michael was at the house and couldn't get in.  Well obviously we weren't there, so Michael came up to the park for a little bit.  I had all the fixings ready to bake a cake with Emma.  While Michael went to get lunch, Bread Co, Emma and I whipped up the cake.  After it cooled, she was in charge of decorating it.

Instead of the two of us going out to dinner at a fancy place, we are several states away from family and we don't know anyone that we would trust to watch our kids.  So guess what, our kids came along and it all worked out great!  We knew we wanted to go back to a restaurant we had been to a few months ago when my parents were in town.  They have a good happy hour menu, but some might not like to sit outside or at the bar.  While we thought about sitting at the bar with the kids, we didn't want to be judged from others around us so we opted for the outside seating.  And the hostess must have known exactly what we were looking for, some place to let Emma run free.  Instead of seating us at a table, we were seated at the patio furniture section.  It seemed a little odd to be eating our dinner there, but it worked out perfect for Emma.  She didn't have to be contained to a chair for an hour, but rather watch the people walking past the restaurant, looking at the workers through the glass, or just walking around the patio furniture.

While this might not have been our ideal way to spend our anniversary, we enjoyed spending it with the ones we love.  And isn't that what its all about anyways!

 The hidden message from Michael.

Michael surprised me with flowers too!

 The card I got Michael.

 The beautiful flowers.

 Emma smelling them.

Then she noticed the cake fixings.

 Trying to read the directions.

Alright, my little baker is ready to go!

First we need to spray the pan.

 The anniversary cards and flowers.

 Mix in those eggs.

Trying to sneak a finger in for a sample.

Looks like she managed to get something with chocolate, but it wasn't the cake.

And then she got the cake mix.

 Literally, just the mix.

And the sampling continues, even when its in the baking pan:

It's ready to go in the oven.

 I added the white icing.

 Then the word 'love'.

And Emma was in charge of putting on the sprinkles:

Then it was back to sampling:

Emma loved the freedom at the restaurant:

She didn't want to be held down for a quick picture with me.

 Mason enjoying his bottle.

Yummy!  White sangria!

 Stare down between the guys.

Michael made a toast for our anniversary.

 Cheers!

And lets eat!

Or be silly:

Just relaxing outside.

Still snacking.

Someone didn't want her picture taken anymore.

Digging into the cake after our dinner out.  Yummy!
