Even though it was really hot this 4th of July, Michael and I thought going to hte parades in our city would be a nice tradition to begin with Emma. We headed out a little early, as this was the first year we were going to the parade. It was a good thing we did because parking was terrible and we had to walk a pretty good distance, only to be at the end of the parade with just about everyone else.
Emma was doing pretty good watching the parade, given the heat and time of day (nap time). We didn't know how long the parade was going to take, but after about an hour and a half we decided it was time to go. It looked like it could go on forever. As it turned out, we missed most of the traffic and we were able to get Emma to take a good nap in the car before heading over to Trish's house.
Walking from the parking lot to the parade site.
Staying hydrated along the way.
Okay, stop here!
Tilt the umbrella just a little more, and perfect!
Mommy, don't forget the sunscreen.
Snacking on a cracker while waiting for the parade to begin.
Mommy and Emma
And the parade has begun!
Better view from Daddy's shoulders.
What, is it over already?
The wind must have taken my bonnet!
Here come the veterans.
Looks like the parade goes on and on and on.
Emma was seriously watching the parade.
Time for a fruit snack.
Daddy liked looking at these corvettes.
And particularly this one because of the sign.
