After many weeks of looking at themes for Emma's first birthday, we decided to go with something familiar to her. Every night when we put Emma to bed we sing "You Are My Sunshine" so naturally that became the theme of her birthday party. I had searched the internet for ideas and them adjusted them accordingly to meet our needs and what we thought was appropriate for our little sunshine.
I still can't get over that a full year has gone by. I still remember like it was yesterday when I woke Michael up to tell him the news that we were expecting. Then fast forward nine months and are lives were forever changed, we were having our sweet little girl! Not knowing what to expect was the scary part, but somehow you just push through it and do the best you can with what is given to you. Now look at our family...we are happy as can be and wouldn't change a thing!
Emma's time capsule that she will be able to open when she turns 21! Guests were able to write down anything they wanted to for Emma to read later in her life.
The layout of the food; trying to go along with the theme.
The beginning of all the food.
Carter and Tuesday
Good thing we started coloring a little bit ago; now she has her own paper and crayons to do more wonderful masterpieces.
Addie and Emma
Emma opening some gifts.
Emma showing Chase one of her gifts.
Emma loved the duck from Ashley, so much that she wanted it opened.
Emma found someone to open the duck.
Sitting with Ashley to show her the cool duck spout cover she got.
It doesn't get much better than this, a duck chair with a duck water spout cover!
Still playing with the duck.
Michael opening some of the gifts.
Then Emma got another duck, this time the softest duck there is!
Now this duck won't leave her side.
Look at all those presents! Emma is one loved little lady!
Emma's smash cupcake!
And the cake for everyone else to enjoy!
The attempt to put the headband on for pictures didn't last long.
Daddy giving Emma the prep talk about what's about to happen...
Emma eyeing the cupcake...
Pondering about what it really is.
Beginning to try the icing.
Still picking at the icing.
Getting a handful of cake.
Then two handfuls of cake and icing!
It might work better if I just pick it up and smash it in my face!
Just a little mess, but that must mean she enjoyed it!
Do you want to try this cupcake?
Hey, who is outside!?!
