Well we survived! We made it through the first night at home. We attempted to put Emma in her crib, but that didn’t last very long. As it turned out, Michael and I ended up holding her most of the night (even if we did fall asleep a little bit with her in our arms). Our sleep pattern is something that will need to get figured out, but once we get into a routine all will be well. It is just a different feeling waking up every couple hours to feed Emma. Even the dogs were tired from being "on duty" all night with us, but it’s easy enough for them to get some rest (maybe not so easy for us).
Michael’s parents came out in the afternoon for lunch and to visit with Emma. Shortly after they were here, Michael’s Aunt Melissa stopped by to meet Emma. She was out of town when Emma was born so this was their first meeting. Emma is not really a good hostess because she just ate and slept most of the time our company was here. This evening Chris, Jessica, Isabella, and Chase stopped by. They brought out the swing Chase had used, as well as all the bottles and accessories he used. The kids were playing all around our living room and Emma didn’t even bother to wake up from her nap. It’s good to know that she can sleep through just about anything.
I can’t wait till Emma gets to be a little bit older and we will be able to do more things with her. It seemed like we kept saying that we can’t wait for her to be born and before we knew it, she was here. Now we can’t wait for her to get older, but before we know it she will be starting school and whatever else is to come in the future.
