What a lazy morning we had. Michael and I woke up at a decent time, but we were debating about what to do…should we go to church or lay around and watch movies this morning? As bad as it sounds, we decided to lay around. Emma and I went upstairs to watch tv, but we ended up falling asleep and Michael came up to watch a movie.
When we finally woke up, it was close to lunch time. We were trying to decide what to do about the birthday party at a park at 1:00 PM. We finally decided that we were going to take Emma, even though it was so hot outside. Emma was not happy by the time we pulled off the highway; I crawled into the backseat to try to calm her, but that didn’t work. She was screaming so much that her face was turning red so I told Michael that I was going to take her out of the car seat. Just then we were turning off to the park so it wasn’t that long that she was out of her seat.

"Uh guys, don't you think it's a little hot out here?"

Hanging out with my Grandpa and Godmother, Ashley.

I felt Emma a little after we got there, but she didn’t feel too bad. I wanted to keep her hydrated, but the only thing she could have is formula, but I would think that would fill Emma up. I also got a wash cloth dipped in the water in the cooler, then rubbed it over Emma’s arms and legs.
So we ended up driving an hour each way, only to spend about 45 minutes there. It was just too hot and I didn't want Emma to over heat. After the birthday party, Michael rode in the backseat to try to keep Emma calm, but that didn’t last too long. It was a long way home, but when we finally made it, Emma was happy as a clam.
"Oh no, back in this thing."
"Ok, I'm ready to play!"
"So is this thing (hand) supposed to be used as a head rest?"

What A Busy Saturday
This morning I got up a little earlier than my alarm was set, only to begin cleaning and making food. I made the salsa and six layer taco dip, while Michael made the guacamole. Then Emma woke up so we both shared feeding and caring for her. I also cleaned up around the kitchen and the rest of the house before heading off to my eye appointment.
We got there right when it was scheduled, but due to their error and not writing down my last name correctly, it was another 20 minutes before I was seen. It seemed like I waited for about an hour, only to see the eye doctor for less than 5 minutes. It’s no different than going to any other doctor.
After the appointment, we went over to my Grandparent’s house to drop off the magazines for my uncle to pick up before he goes down to my cousin’s house. We weren’t going to stay very long because we still had work to do before the guests came over. While we were visiting with my Grandparent’s a big storm came in, but only lasted a little bit.
After our visit, I wanted to stop in at Schnuck’s to get a few groceries for dinner. We grabbed a quick bite to eat then went home to finish getting the house ready for tonight. We were having some of Michael’s co-workers (Mike and Rachel and Jeff and Missy), Ashley and Jarrod, and Jake over. We were making Mexican food for dinner and then we played Catchphrase and Apples to Apples. After chatting for a little bit, we ended up eating dinner. Emma was put to bed and then we were able to play our games. It was such an intense game of Catchphrase that I thought Emma was going to wake up; however, she never did. Again, she is such a good little lady!

Bumbo Time
Since Emma has been able to hold her head up (sometimes a little shaky), we decided that today was the day to pull out the bumbo seat. At first, I was a little hesistant because of how she might react, as well as how the dogs might react. I thought for sure that she would scream and cry, but to my surprise, she was quite content in the bumbo seat. It must have been because Sesame Street was on the tv. Hey, whatever it takes to get her sitting still for a bit to work on her posture! And the dogs just gave her a sniff over to make sure she was going to be okay with this new toy. I can't wait to add the tray on the bumbo so she can play with her toys.
"What is this thing I'm sitting on?"
Really concentrating on the tv.
"There it is!" (Emma referring to finding the tv.
Just watching the tv.
After all that hard work sitting up, Emma was ready for a nap. She fell asleep while sitting in her swing. I just can't get enough pictures of this little lady. She is my life! Oh I just love her so much!
And she is out.

Visit With the Great Grandparents
After Michael and I had dinner, we went over to his Grandparent’s house to visit for a little bit. We weren’t going to stay too late because it would be getting close to the time that Emma goes to bed. As it turned out, we had changed her and fed her while we were there and she was ready for bed. When we got home, I took Emma out of her car seat and carried her right up to her bed, where she continued to sleep. She is such a good little lady. When we got home from his grandparent’s house, I wanted to finish cleaning up around the house before the guests came over tomorrow. As it turned out, I was exhausted and just wanted to go to bed. There will be some time to do all the cleaning and preparing tomorrow; I just hope Michael can help with some of the things I need done, I doubt it though.

Emma Found The TV
I came home from work today, only to hear the sweet sounds of Sesame Street on the tv. Grandpa decided to entertain her with the tv. According to him, she is allowed to watch one episode in the morning and one in the afternoon. She was so amazed by it! It must be all the colors and quick movements. Now I know where to keep her entertained if I need to do something real quick. She absolutely loves the tv now and won't look away from it.
Cali: "Emma, what are we looking at?"
Staring and deep in thought by this new "toy".
"Hey! That's Grover!"

Kansas City: Day Two
We woke up around 8:00 AM this morning. We were debating about taking Emma to the pool, but then she fell asleep as she was being fed her bottle. So we decided not to wake her and will try the pool another time.
Emma just as excited as daddy to watch Back to the Future.
Peek - a - boo; I see you!
Daddy and his little girl.
What a big girl!
When we had the bags all packed and ready to go, Michael gave Emma one more bottle before we were to go to the BBQ restaurant. As he was burping her, Emma decided she didn’t want all that formula and spit up all over the chair, floor, and Michael. Michael had to jump in the shower again to rinse the formula off then we were off to the restaurant.
Sleeping in the boppy.
Sleeping in daddy's arms.
I just can't get enough pictures of Emma's tiny hands and feet.
After lunch, we had a little time before the reception so we went over to Jill’s parent’s house. The reception for Jill’s brother and sister in law was really nice. We had a little dessert and some coffee drinks, visited with some of Jill’s family (mainly just Jill though), and then got ready to head home.
The way home was a little rough. Emma was not too happy so I had to ride in the back with her to entertain her. It didn’t always work so we had to stop a few times to calm her down. It was a good little getaway and now we know how Emma travels so it should be fun when we go on more vacations as a family.
All ready for our trip home.
Mommy and Papa ready to leave with Emma.
Oh my gosh! Look at this toy on my foot!
Are we there yet?

Emma's First Road Trip: Kansas City
Michael and I stayed up a little later last night trying to get things ready for our first big trip with Emma. The Parmeter's are heading to Kansas tomorrow.
After a few hours of sleep, I awoke to begin getting things together again. Since I had most of the things ready last night, it was a little easier this morning, but still there seemed like so much to do. We were trying to get out of the house kind of early so we could have the majority of the day in Kansas City, but it all depended on when Emma woke up. As it turned out, Emma wasn’t planning on waking up anytime soon so Michael woke her up. He did that when the majority of the stuff was packed and ready to go so all we would have to do is change her, feed her, and put her in the car.
Ready to hit the open road.
Since her belly was full, Emma fell back asleep for almost two hours. Right about that time, I was needing to stop to go to the bathroom. Also at this time, Michael received an uneasy call about his grandpa. Since we were pulling off to go to the bathroom, we were trying to decide what to do, continue with our trip or go back home. We ended up deciding to continue on and if something were to change then we would just drive home.
Changing Emma's diaper in the back seat of the car.
Still a happy girl.
Oh boy! Back in this seat again.
We continued on our trip, but had to stop shortly after getting back on the road because Emma was hungry. We stopped for about 40 minutes, while the rest of my family continued on. There was a little tension between everyone when there was miscommunication between the family. So that just put everyone in a great mood. When we finally got to the restaurant, no one was in speaking turns.
Passing through the town of Emma.
What a cute sleeping beauty.
Cute picture of Emma's hand resting on her knee.
After the restaurant, we went to the mall, where we spent about 40 minutes looking around before heading over to the hotel. Michael, Emma, and I went into the American Girl store. Thankfully, Emma was sleeping and is too little to know what an American Girl is, but maybe at a later time we will get her one.

Zonked out after the trip to the mall.
After we all met up again, we headed to the hotel. We had a little time before we were to go over to Jill’s parent’s house so we tried to let Emma take a nap. As it turned out, the three of us fell asleep for a little bit. When we woke up, we hurried to get ready to go to Jill’s house. We met most of Jill’s family, had dinner, and played Catchphrase.
What a little girl in a big bed!
Tummy time on the hotel bed.
Shh! Daddy is sleeping.
Just kidding, daddy is awake!
Just love the positions she gets comfortable in.
Michael and I decided we should leave a little sooner than my parents because we weren’t sure how Emma was going to sleep in a new place on a rock hard pack n play. It took her a little while to fall asleep, but once she did, she was out like a light.
Shh! Nighty night all!
