Emma's First Month Check-Up

This afternoon was Emma’s one month doctor’s appointment. Before we got to her appointment, Michael and I were guessing how much Emma would weigh. I said she would be 9 pounds 7 ounces and Michael said she would be 8 pounds 12 ounces. When we got to the office, Michael and I had to go over the electronic paperwork (the same things that we just entered at her first visit). How frustrating! When we got back to the room and got Emma undressed, it was time to see just who was right with her weight. I was dead on with her weight, 9 pounds 7 ounces! That put Emma in the 50-75% for weight. Her length stayed the same, 22 inches, which put her in the 75%. Her head circumference was 14 ¾ cm, which put her in the 75%. Everything looked good with Emma when the pediatrician came into her room. While we were with the pediatrician we asked about Emma’s belly button oozing some brown discharge. The poor little lady had a granuloma that needed to be taken care of using silver nitrate. Michael had to have this done and he said it hurt like heck, so I can’t imagine what it will be like for our sweet pea. But she was a trooper. She cried a little bit, but was comforted by her mommy. Since we were just a little bit early for her one month birthday to get her hepatitis B shot, we have to come back sometime next week. She lucked out today, but will eventually have to get it done.

Emma doesn't like getting undressed at the doctor's office.

Being comforted by daddy.

Leaving with daddy.
