Emma's Mysterious Rash

On Wednesday, the kids and I enjoyed spending a few hours in the afternoon with Aunt Shelley.  While she was here, we adventured out to lunch.  Emma tried some of the lobster dip and later that evening we noticed the beginning of a rash on her hands.  About a year ago, Emma had a reaction to eating crab so we thought maybe she has a seafood allergy.  After a couple days and the rash not looking better, I called the pediatrician, who wanted to have a look at her to make sure nothing else was going on.  The doctor (not our primary one) had an opening this afternoon and we headed there to meet Michael.  Emma was her usual self, playing through the day, but just woke up a lot throughout the night because she was itchy.  I hope the doctor will be able to find out what is going on so she can be her normal self again.

After sitting for a little bit in the waiting room, we were finally called back.  Emma wasn't so sure about the new nurse, but she quickly warmed up to her.  I think Emma realized that she was getting a check up, much like the Doc does on the tv show.  Emma did such a good job sitting still to get her vital signs.  But when the doctor came into the room, it was a whole new story!  I don't know if it was because it was a male instead of the females that she has seen or what the deal was, but she was uncomfortable with him.  He was able to get her to warm up a little bit and do her check up.  The doctor came up with a diagnosis, Emma has hand, foot, and mouth disease.  She should be back to her normal self in about a week, with the help of a little Tylenol and ready to go on our vacation!

After leaving the doctor's office, Michael told Emma he had a surprise for her (and me too!).  Michael had brought home from work two donuts, a sprinkle one and a custard one.  Emma enjoyed eating her sprinkle donut on the way to the grocery store.  When she got out of the car, Emma had eaten only icing and sprinkles off the top of the donut.  She sure does love her sweets!
