Night At The Museum

Again, it's the free night at the National Harbor Children's Museum.  Our tradition was thrown off a little this afternoon.  Emma was so excited to get to go to the museum that she didn't want to take a nap when she normally does.  Instead both her and Mason decided that the car ride over to the museum would be their nap (which isn't nearly long enough, but at least it was something).  Therefore, we decided not to wake them up to eat dinner at McDonalds.  We still kept with our tradition of eating there, but we went through the drive thru and found a parking spot right across from the entrance!  Michael and I ate our dinner in peace and quiet; and just as we were finishing, Emma woke up ready to go see Big Bird.

We never know what the museum will have in store for the events that night, so we are always excited to see if it will be something Emma will enjoy.  This was the first time we were actually at the museum right when it began so we were going to enjoy this evening to its fullest!  Tonight the list of entertainment included: decorating a face with dot paint, moving and grooving in the theater, fingerpaint/playing with shaving cream, playing with a water toy, the regular toys, and then of course the best way to end the night...seeing Grover and Cookie Monster!  Can't wait to see what next month will be like!

First, it was decorating a face:

Ready for the moving and grooving:

The last two pictures, the song was 'head shoulders knees and toes'.

Mason was enjoying the music.

And just like that, Emma was ready to move onto something else.

This was something much more exciting...fingerpaint and playing with shaving cream:

Time to wash off!

Next up is playing with the water toy!

Since we arrived late, I didn't know we couldn't take pictures during the performance...oops!

Back into the room with more shaving cream and the water toy, this time with Mason too!

Playing in the infant zone.

I see an Emma looking at me!

Checking out the jelly fish.

 Mason's turn.

Ride that horsey, go to town!

Playing with the dishes, just like at home.

 Mason really liked this toy!

Then Emma had enough in the kids section and was ready to see the rest of the place.

Who is that on the top bunk?

Watch out Mason, here comes your sister!

 Sibling love :)

Getting dressed up like a fire fighter.

Here is the next fire fighter, Emma!

 Ready to go home.

Until as we were about to leave, we saw Grover!

And just had to stop and get a picture with him.

And Cookie Monster was there too!

 Emma was saying 'who else will we see' when we were actually walking out the door;
she was thrilled to get her picture taken with Big Bird too!

Since it was so nice outside, we decided to walk down towards the river,
stopping at the butterfly bench for a quick photo.

The beautiful sunset at the river.
