Q-Tip Painting

I had seen something online about painting with Q-Tips and I thought that's just the thing Emma needs to do.  So I drafted up some projects for her to paint with the Q-Tip.  I described to Emma what we were going to do, but I was a little unsure if she would be able to understand what I was asking so I demonstrated it.  And to my surprise, she did a pretty good job.  I mean after all, she is only two years old!

First up was the alphabet to paint.  Emma skipped around from letter to letter, but made sure each letter had at least a little paint on it.  When Emma would go to a letter, we would say the letter and then an animal or a word that began with that letter.  She really likes the letter 'H' and associates that with Heidi dog, which meant I had to track down Heidi dog so she could watch Emma paint.  We sang the "A,B,Cs' a couple times before it was on to the next project, numbers 1 - 20.  Emma again did really well with following the directions, but this time was more about just painting all over the number, not so much following the lines.  Then the last project was tracing her first and last name.  It is so cute listening to how she pronounces her last name.  I was so glad I got a recording of each of these projects, especially when she was saying her name, so that Michael could see what a good job she was doing and how much older she acts.
Hopefully, more fun projects, like this one, will be in the line up!

The alphabet paper ready to be traced with paint.

About to dip the Q-Tip in some hot pink paint.

And she is off tracing the letters!

Got a smile from Mason watching from below.

So determined to try something new and do a good job too!

 Heidi dog came to watch!

And I'm done with this one!

 Emma's traced alphabet.

Ready to try the next one, painting numbers.

Mason likes playing in the girls' water.

Oops!  It changed to finger paint instead.

Back to painting with a Q-Tip.

Sitting like such a big girl, with her legs crossed and all.

 Mason being silly.

 Her completed painted numbers.

 Starting to paint her name.

Keeping an eye on her little brother.

And finishing up with her last name.
